Whitewater Township and Village of Cleves Evacuation Has Been Lifted

The Whitewater Township Community Center will be open today from until five with a Central Railroad of Indiana representative to answer questions regarding claims.

(Hamilton County, OH.) –As of 6:30PM last night the evacuation order for the Whitewater Township and the Village of Cleves has been lifted. Residents have been permitted to return to their homes. All the roads in the area have been reopened.

The Whitewater Township Community Center will be open today from until five with a Central Railroad of Indiana representative to answer questions regarding claims.

There are some actions you can take if you were part of that evacuation area. These are recommendations out of caution. Residents can wash any clothing and bedding left out. The Ohio Department of Agriculture has advised that residents throw out any produce or uncontained food. This also includes things such as pet food. Surfaces in your home should also be wiped down. The Ohio Department of Agriculture also advises residents to change their HVAC filtration.

The US EPA has been conducting air monitoring tests. Results for these tests can be found at www.hcready.org. There are no results that styrene would be present beyond the half mile evacuation radius.

The Village of Cleves Water Work is a closed system and is not experiencing any issues related to the chemical leak. Private water systems and wells have been checked by Hamilton County Public Health and have been deemed safe. Any individual who would like their private water system checked can reach out to Hamilton County Public Health at 513-946-7966.
