(Ripley County, Ind.) - The Ripley County Chamber of Commerce held their annual Business Recognition Luncheon on Wednesday.

At the event, the Carson Hughes Foundation, Inc. was recognized as the Ripley County Chamber Organization of the Year.

"While we may not feel deserving of this award, we appreciate the opportunity to speak on Carson’s behalf. We shared with those in attendance our goals we hope to accomplish through the foundation as a way to continue his legacy. While we try to bring “good” from such a tragedy, honestly, there will never be anything “good enough” … but we press on and do what little good we can," reads a statement from the Carson Hughes Foundation.

The Carson Hughes Foundation, Inc (CHF) was established in honor and memory of Carson Michael Hughes, 18, of Osgood, IN. Carson was a talented wildlife and nature photographer who tragically took his last photo on March 15, 2024. The purpose of CHF is to share Carson’s beautiful photography while promoting and funding initiatives that were important to Carson.

All proceeds from the sale of Carson's photography, as well as any money raised though fundraisers, go directly to CHF which allows us to provide scholarships to local seniors at all Ripley County High Schools, support athletics at Jac-Cen-Del High School, support programs that promote a love of photography and nature such as the Photography in Nature Summer Camp through Genesis Pathways for Success, and also providing funding for conservation initiatives.
