Job Description
Water Technician/Equipment Operator/Laborer

General Description
• Performs a variety of semi-skilled, skilled technical, and maintenance work in the
operation, maintenance, and repair of Patriot Water Distribution System.

• Water Distribution System operations consisting of daily sampling, testing, monitoring, installation and repair of the infrastructure such as repairing water lines, sewer lines, sewer pump repair, sewer collection system maintenance, installing water service lines, valves, and meters, etc. Other duties such as vehicle and equipment maintenance, tree and weed trimming, spraying weeds, etc.

• Typical work day is 7:30am – 4pm, Must be willing to work nights and be on an on-call rotation including weekends and holidays, and emergency calls as needed.

Equipment Knowledge:
• Must have the ability to learn and use a variety of hand tools such as shovel, probe, chop saw, weed eater, basic shop tools, gas powered pumps rake broom, etc.
• Must have the ability to use a variety of power equipment such as a mini excavator, high track mini loader, tractor, dump truck, etc.

Critical Skills:
• Must have knowledge of Dept. Policies, procedures, standards, rules, and regulations.
• Must have a thorough knowledge of equipment, facilities, materials, methods, and procedures used in the water distribution and wastewater collection and treatment system.
• Must have the ability to communicate effectively.
• Must be able to work at a moderate pace, ability to learn quickly and efficiently.
• Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
• Computer skills, although minimal, some are needed.
• Must have High School Diploma or GED.

Physical Requirements:
• Physical requirements experienced are identified as heavy work, heavy lifting, kneeling, crawling, and may be strenuous at times. Must be able to lift up to 70 pounds.

Work Environment:
• Working conditions will require the employee to work outside in all types of weather conditions. We try to avoid inclement weather as much as possible. In the case of an outage we work in all conditions until the outage is resolved. May be expected to temperatures below 32 degrees and above 100 degrees.

Safety Equipment:
• May be required to use: hard hat, rubber gloves, ear plugs, safety glasses, gloves, etc.

Salary:
