Tri-State Gas Prices Nearing $3

Some area stations are selling fuel for $2.99 per gallon.

(Cincinnati, Oh.) - Don’t look now. Local gas prices are climbing closer to the $3 mark.

GasBuddy.com reports the average price of self-serve regular fuel in the region jumped 14 cents over the past week to $2.83 a gallon.

A handful of gas stations are already charging $3 a gallon. Some stations in Brookville and Hebron are posting $2.99.

Oil prices are falling back from last week's three and-a-half year highs and surging U.S. production is playing a big role.  U.S. drillers put eleven more rigs to work last week, bringing the total to 844.  That's the most since March of 2015.
