Indiana State Fair Draws Single-Day Attendance Record

Despite the single-day record, less people attended this year's fair compared to last year.

(Indianapolis, Ind.) - A single-day attendance record was set at the Indiana State Fair this year despite a decrease in overall attendance.

Indiana State Fair organizers say this year’s fair drew 860,131 attendees over its 17-day run, August 3-19. That figure is down from 906,732 last year.

The fair attracted a record number of people on its second $2 Tuesday promotional day, which brought in more than 91,000 guests, making it the highest attended weekday in fair history.

“The STEP RIGHT UP to the Greatest 17 Days of Summer theme provided a wonderful opportunity to highlight Indiana’s unique circus history and promote it to hundreds of thousands of Hoosiers,” says Cindy Hoye, executive director of the Indiana State Fair Commission. “Despite several hot and rainy days, we once again delivered an incredible fair experience that delighted our guests.”

The Indiana State Fair is the state’s largest multi-day event celebrating Hoosiers’ spirit and agricultural heritage.

The 2019 State Fair will be held at the Indiana State Fairgrounds in Indianapolis August 2-18.
