IHSAA Releases Sectional Pairings For 49th Annual Football State Tournament

Sectional play begins Friday, October 22.

INDIANAPOLIS - Twelve of the state’s 314 high school football teams will eventually play for a state championship across six classes.

The Road to Lucas Oil Stadium starts Friday, October 22 with the kickoff of the 49th annual IHSAA Football State Tournament.

The IHSAA Champions Radio Network released sectional pairings on Sunday evening.

Sectional play will run October 22 through November 5. Regionals will take place on November 12, followed by semi-states on November 19.

State championship games will be played on Thanksgiving weekend Friday, November 26 and Saturday, November 27.

Determining Home Team
First Round: The second-named team in the blind draw is host school unless the two teams agree to switch the site.
Semifinals: The team without a home game will host. Exception: The bye team will always be the visitor. If both teams were hosts or both were visitors, the second-named team in the quarter bracket will host. In 6A & 5A, in the four team sectionals, the second-named team will host.
Championships: Host team will be the team that has played the most away games. If both teams have played the same number of away games, the bottom bracket team shall host.

 

Class 4A Sectional 23 (8 teams)

G1: South Dearborn at Madison Consolidated.

G2: Martinsville at Silver Creek.

G3: Mooresville at Jennings County.

G4: Greenwood Community at East Central.

Semifinals

G5: G1 winner vs. G2 winner.

G6: G3 winner vs. G4 winner.

Championship G5 winner vs. G6 winner.

 

Class 3A Sectional 31 (8 teams)

G1: Scottsburg at Brownstown Central.

G2: Rushville Consolidated at Batesville.

G3: Greensburg at Charlestown.

G4: Franklin County at Lawrenceburg.

Semifinals

G5: G1 winner vs. G2 winner.

G6: G3 winner vs. G4 winner.

Championship G5 winner vs. G6 winner.

 

Class 2A Sectional 39 (8 teams)

G1: Providence at Switzerland County.

G2: Union County at Paoli.

G3: Triton Central at Eastern (Pekin).

G4: Mitchell at Clarksville.

Semifinals

G5: G1 winner vs. G2 winner.

G6: G3 winner vs. G4 winner.

Championship G5 winner vs. G6 winner.

 

Class 1A Sectional 47 (8 teams)

G1: Oldenburg Academy at Milan.

G2: North Decatur at South Decatur.

G3: Hagerstown at Tri.

G4: Knightstown at Cambridge City Lincoln.

Semifinals

G5: G1 winner vs. G2 winner.

G6: G3 winner vs. G4 winner.

Championship G5 winner vs. G6 winner.
