(Middletown, Oh.) – A former Batesville High School basketball standout continues to star on the hardwood at the collegiate level.

Blake Walsman was recently named the River States Conference Men’s Basketball Player of the Week for his play between January 14-20.

Walsman, a senior forward for Cincinnati Christian University, averaged 18.5 points and 16.0 rebounds over two games last week. He also shot an incredible 62 percent from the field and connected on 15 of 17 free throws.

Scoring baskets isn’t the only thing Walsman does well. Earlier this month, Walsman was named to the Fall 2018 Distinguished Student-Athlete List. In order to be considered for the honor, student-athletes must be a full-time student and earn a minimum 3.5 GPA for the fall semester.

CCU (9-12, 4-6 in RSC) faces a stiff test on Thursday when they host 12th ranked WVU Tech.
