(Lawrenceburg, Ind.) – A Dearborn County home was destroyed by a fire on Wednesday afternoon.

Multiple agencies responded to the blaze in the 20000 block of Augusta Drive around 2:30 and remained on scene until approximately 8:00.

Upon arriving at the scene, crews located the home completely involved.

According to the Bright Fire Department, the cause is currently undetermined. However, the belief is that an issue with the gas meter may have ignited the fire, which quickly spread through the attic area and a majority of the rest of the home.

How the gas meter may have ignited remains under investigation by the gas company and the state fire marshal.

The damage is estimated to be around $1 million dollars.

No injuries were reported.
