(Friendship, Ind.) - A water rescue had to be made after a vehicle attempted to travel through high water on State Road 62.

Friendship Volunteer Fire Department responded to the scene around 3:49 a.m. Saturday. Upon arriving at the scene, a driver was located attempting to drive through high water from Laughery Creek that had covered a portion of State Road 62.

Unit 71 was able to reach the individual and help them from the vehicle. The driver was uninjured, but the vehicle is likely a loss from the flood waters, according to Friendship Volunteer Fire Department.

"This individual was extremely lucky this morning. We cannot emphasize enough, do not drive into flood waters. The risk is not worth the few minutes you might save. This individual probably lost his vehicle from the flood waters and could have easily lost his life. It is not just a saying, “Turn around and don’t drown," reads a statement from Friendship Volunteer Fire Department.
