(Milan, Ind.) - A replica of the Vietnam Veterans Memorial is going to be in southeastern Indiana next month.

Baylor Trucking and other members of the Truckload Carriers Association have donated trucks and drivers to move The Wall That Heals to cities and towns across the nation in recent years. Now, the locally-based trucking company is bringing it here.

The Wall That Heals will be stationed at Baylor Trucking’s headquarters at the intersection of State Roads 48 and 101 in Milan on Wednesday, September 5th through Sunday, September 9th. The free exhibit will be open 24 hours a day and all will be given free admission.

The traveling wall is a project by the Vietnam Veterans Memorial Fund. At 375 feet in length and 7.5 feet high, it includes the names of more than 58,000 men and women who gave their lives in service to the country.

Just like the original memorial in Washington, D.C., visitors can copy rubbings of individual service members’ names from the three-quarters scale replica wall.

The exhibit includes an educational center in the 53-foot trailer used to transport the wall sections.

Baylor Trucking is working with area veterans groups to make the exhibit possible, but more volunteers are being sought. If you or your organization are interested in helping, contact Hannah Evans at (812) 623-2020 or hgibson@baylortrucking.com.
