Victorian House Museum Hillforest Summer Events

(Aurora, Ind.) - Tour historic Hillforest this summer. The 1855 Victorian home of Thomas and Sarah Gaff, 213 Fifth Street, Aurora offers guided tours Tuesday through Sunday, 1:00-5:00 p.m. The last tour begins at 4:30 p.m. Admission is $10- 14 and up, $4 for students (ages 7-13), children 6 and under are free. Hillforest's featured Exhibit: "A Stitch in Time," Hillforest's collection of antique quilts and coverlets, and also a collection of Aurora memorabilia and artifacts. 

Hillforest is hosting a fun nostalgic trip back to the '50s & the ’60s in celebration of Aurora’s Bicentennial on Saturday, June 29 from 7:00 – 10:30 p.m. entitled “Aurora’s Blast from the Past.” The outdoor event will be held at the beautiful Veraestau Historic site.   Guests will enjoy touring Veraestau and taking in the amazing view of the Ohio River Valley, appetizers, a dinner buffet, live music, beer and wine, and more.  Entertainment will feature Bobby & Lisa Almost Live performing all the oldies but goodies we love.  Come for the party and stay for the show as the evening will end with a BANG with the viewing of Aurora’s fireworks display at 10:00 p.m. Reservations are required.  Cost:  Hillforest and Indiana Landmark members $50, Non-members $55.  Attendees must by 21. 

Hillforest is once again offering a summertime favorite the American Girl Day Camps.  Girls ages 5-14 will have a great time learning the history of the American Girl doll series, playing dress-up for a take-home photo, making a fun craft for themselves and their doll, and participating in a little lady tea.  Dolls (any favorite doll) are invited to attend the one-day camps that run July 15-July 17 from 9:00-12:00 noon.   Cost: $35, $30 for Hillforest members.
