Teen Struck By Pickup On State Road 101

The incident happened Wednesday evening in Ripley County.

(Sunman, Ind.) – A teenager was struck by a vehicle on State Road 101 in Ripley County Wednesday evening.

Ripley County Sheriff’s deputies say the responded to the incident on the 8600 block of State Road 101, just south of Sunman, at around 8:42 p.m.

A 17-year-old from Sunman told deputies he was driving a Ford F350 truck northbound when he thought a deer ran into his vehicle. He turned around to check and instead discovered a 15-year-old boy from Vevay.

The victim said he was walking northbound along State Road 101 when he fell in the ditch. When he got up and back onto the road, he was struck by the pickup truck.

The sheriff’s office says the 15-year-old was transported to the hospital for non-life threatening injuries.

Agencies assisting at the scene included Rescue 20, Sunman Fire Department, Ripley County Medic, Indiana State Police, Dearborn County Court Services, and Milan Police Department.
