South Dearborn Schools to Celebrate Read Across America Day

Volunteers from the community will be reading to elementary school students.

(Aurora, Ind.) – South Dearborn Schools will be celebrating the birthday of Dr. Seuss and Read Across America Day on Thursday, March 2 and Friday, March 3.

Volunteers from throughout the community will be reading books to each class at Manchester, Dillsboro and Aurora elementary schools.

Volunteers include Dearborn County Sheriff Shane McHenry, K-9 officers, Aurora city manager Jonathan Wismann, staff from Aurora Public Library, staff from Ivy Tech Community College, South Dearborn superintendent Eric Lows, and more.

Read Across America Day is a nationwide  reading celebration that was created by the National Education Association (NEA) in 1997 to promote literacy and encourage a love of reading among children.
