Community Members Come Together to Read to Local Elementaries.

(Aurora, Ind.)- South Dearborn Community Schools celebrated Dr. Suess and Read Across America Day on Friday, March 8.
Thirty-two people visited classrooms at Aurora, Dillsboro, and Manchester elementary schools.
Readers volunteered to read two books to students in grades kindergarten through sixth. They celebrated the love of reading and Dr. Suess for a week.
The readers consisted of deputy sheriff Tara Sprandel, Dillsboro Police officer Josh Cady, Aurora Police officer Craig Elliot, Thom and Leanne Maltbie of the Dillsboro Art Guild, Carie Baylor from Baylor Trucking, Aurora EMS, Aurora Town Manager Austin Woods, Aurora Mayor Patrick Schwing, Aurora Public Library District Director Leslie Sutherlin and many members of the APLD staff, and Sandy Whitehead, Stefanie Hoffmeier, and Julie Robinson from the Dearborn County Recycling Center, and several staff members from South Dearborn High School and Middle School.
Officer Mcbroom and his K-9 Raiko read books, but they also visited South Dearborn High School to spend time with the special needs class in the library.
The students and the staff enjoyed the books and were thankful for the community coming together to read to them.
