SEI Region's Unemployment At 8.4%

(Lawrenceburg, Ind.) - New unemployment figures were released Tuesday by the Indiana Department of Workforce Development.

 

The state finished 2011 with 9.0 percent non-seasonally adjusted unemployment in December, down from 9.5 percent in December 2010.

 

Locally, Dearborn County unemployment was down to 9.0 percent from 9.8 percent a year ago.

 

Switzerland County’s unemployment was again the lowest in southeast Indiana at just 6.7 percent. The highest was Ripley County at 9.4 last month.

 

The southeast Indiana five county region's overall unemployment rate was 8.4 percent with 5,032 people in the area labor force of 59,994 without a job.
