INDIANAPOLIS – Unemployment data for Indiana counties has been released for May 2023.

According to the Indiana Department of Workforce Development, four of the five southeastern Indiana counties in the Eagle Country listening area had a jobless rate higher than the state average last month.

The state’s unemployment rate stands at 3.1 percent. Ohio County matched that number, while Dearborn, Franklin, Ripley, and Switzerland counties saw their jobless rates slightly higher.

All five counties saw their unemployment rate increase from April.

The DWD reported earlier this month that there were 124,313 open job postings throughout the state. In May, 14,478 unemployment insurance claims were filed in Indiana.
