Road Rage Incident Leads to Arrest in Batesville

The incident took place Monday morning on Interstate 74.

(Batesville, Ind.) – One person was arrested on multiple charges following a road rage incident in Ripley and Dearborn counties.

The incident began at approximately 11:00 a.m. on Monday when Indiana State Police received a report of a road rage incident on Interstate 74 near the Indiana/Ohio state line.

The witness reported that the driver of a Kia passenger vehicle had allegedly pointed a handgun at them while traveling on I-74.

ISP Troopers located the vehicle near Batesville. During the traffic stop, troopers became suspicious of criminal activity and deployed a K-9, who alerted the odor of illegal drugs in the vehicle.

That led to troopers locating approximately four grams of methamphetamine, five grams of marijuana, and a 9mm handgun.

The driver, Lisa M. Hancock, 50, of Franklin, Indiana, was arrested and charged with Possession of Methamphetamine with a Firearm (Level 5 Felony), Pointing a Firearm (Level 6 Felony), Reckless Driving (Class A Misdemeanor) and Possession of Marijuana (Class B Misdemeanor).

Hancock was transported to Ripley County Jail where she awaits her initial appearance in court.
