Ripley Co. Youth Council Meets Fundraising Goal for Upgrades at Daren Baker Park

The youth council is set to receive a matching grant to help modernize the park.

(Milan, Ind.) – Ripley County Youth Outreach has reached their fundraising goal to make improvements at Daren Baker Memorial Park.

Approximately one month ago, the Ripley County Community Foundation announced a campaign to raise $10,000 by April 20. With two days left, the Ripley County Youth Council has raised $10,306, which means they will receive a matching grant as part of the Indiana Housing and Community Development Authority’s (IHCDA) My Community, My Vision program.

Plans to modernize Daren Baker Memorial Park include:

  • Renovating the main shelter
  • Installing art (murals, sculptures)
  • Adding WIFI
  • Adding modern seating
  • Beautifying the landscape
  • Adding water bottle filling stations and trash/recycling bins

While the fundraising goal has been met, community members can still make donations until the campaign ends on Thursday.
