(Northern Kentucky) - Resurfacing work along portions of Dixie Highway (U.S. 25) will restart this summer as part of a pavement improvement project for various routes in Boone and Kenton counties.
The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet project announced last year includes resurfacing, base failure repairs, sidewalk and curb repairs, drainage repairs, and radar detection at signalized intersections to promote safer, smoother travel.
Work on U.S. 42 from east of Ewing Boulevard, and on Dixie Highway north of Marian Drive has already been completed. Resurfacing will take place on Dixie Highway from north of Dortha Avenue (10.9 mile point) to the Boone/Kenton County line (11.4 mile point) and the Boone/Kenton County line (4.97 mile point) to north of Hallam Avenue (6.26 mile point).
Several preliminary tasks have already been completed ahead of resurfacing, including drainage repairs, base failure repairs, and sidewalk ramp improvements. Updates on anticipated traffic changes for paving will be announced.
While pavement improvements are moving forward, a previously planned roadway reconfiguration from Turfway Road (KY 1017) to northeast of Commonwealth Avenue will not be done at this time.
Riegler Blacktop, Inc,. is contracted to perform the $1.39 million project on behalf of the Transportation Cabinet.
