Plenty Of Christmas Cheer This Weekend

(Lawrenceburg, Ind.) – Only Ebenezer Scrooge would “bah humbug” all the happenings this weekend in southeast Indiana.

 

Various winter season and Christmas-themed celebrations are scheduled for Friday, Saturday, and Sunday throughout the area.

 

Dec. 2 - The Friendship Christmas Walk will be held Friday from 6:00-9:00 p.m. Come see Santa, strolling carolers, crafts for the children, street vendors, hot soup & beverages, bonfire, Live Nativity at Bear Creek Baptist Church, home and business decorating contest, and much more. Dec. 2 and 3 - Start your holiday season at the Greendale First Church of Christ, 421 Ridge Avenue, for free family fun on Friday and Saturday, 5:30-8:00 p.m. each day. See a live nativity and old time carolers. Also refreshments and a craft area for the kids.

Dec. 2 and 3 - Lawrenceburg Main Street’s Winter Wonderland takes place Saturday downtown. There are events at the Library throughout the day, a crafters village, and more. The parade begins at 2:00 p.m., with the ice skating rink opening at 3:00 p.m. There is a $1 skate rental fee. Dec. 3 - As part of Winter Wonderland, the Lawrenceburg Public Library will host a series of events. From 11:00-12:00 is a Christmas magic show put on by nationally known magician and comedian Don Miller. From 12:00-1:00 is a gingerbread house workshop where kids can come and make their own gingerbread house. Santa Claus visits 12:00-1:00 p.m.

 

Dec. 3 and 4 - Aurora’s Miracle on Main continues this weekend with lots of events Saturday and Sunday. The Aurora Lions Club presents Breakfast with Santa at the Lions Building (Call 812-925-2499 to RSVP, limited spots available) at 8:30 and a second session at 10:30 Saturday. A cookie decorating contest is Saturday from 10:30 a.m.-1:00 p.m. Live reindeer are on display Sunday 1:00-4:00 p.m. Santa Claus visits throughout the both days. Dec. 3 - The Moores Hill Fire Departments hosts a popular Breakfast with Santa on Saturday from 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. Bring the kids and have pictures taken. Craft vendors will also be there.

 

Dec. 3 - The first annual Voices of Indiana “Jingle Bell 5K Run/Walk” will begin Saturday at 9:30 a.m. The race starts at the Greendale Cabin and features a flat and fast course. Runners and walkers may register on race day at the Cabin or download a registration form at www.stuartroadracing.com.

 

Dec. 4 - St. Paul School in New Alsace hosts their Annual Christmas Smorgasbord Breakfast on Sunday from 8:00 a.m.-12:00 p.m. Get pictures with Santa Claus from 9:30-11:30. Free will donations benefit St. Paul School.
