Fox Farms will host the event on August 20.
(Rising Sun, Ind.) – An upcoming event will raise money to improve the security system at Rising Sun Schools.
Fox Farms will host the event on August 20.
The family-fun day will include live music, hayrides, face painting, games, concessions, silent auction, volleyball and cornhole tournaments, and more.
The idea for the event came about for a couple of reasons. One, Ohio County and Rising Sun Schools currently do not have an annual carnival, and two, Superintendent Branden Roeder has pinpointed the need for a new motion-censored camera system.
The system would allow the operator to highlight an intruder on camera and follow his or her movements, which would save valuable time paired with the use of an intercom system that instructs staff members how and where to exit to safety.
Such a system is priced near $20,000 per school building or $40,000 total.
Community members of all ages, businesses, and families are invited to attend the fundraiser.
Organizer Abby Fox said, “Our county is smalI and we are lucky to have a tiny next of children to protect. If we all work together for one day, I believe it can make a difference in safety and security for our children and educators, delivering protection and peace of mind.”
