One In Custody After Crosby Township Homicide

(Crosby Township, Oh.) – One person is in custody after a homicide in Crosby Township.

Hamilton County Sheriff’s deputies responded to the incident near the entrance of the Fort Scott neighborhood on Fort Scott Boulevard around 5:30 p.m. on June 29.

First responders arrived to find the victim, Thomas James Landacre, 37, of Morrow, Ohio, on the street bleeding from the neck and chest area with an apparent gunshot wound.

Landacre was unresponsive and several citizens were attempting to give him first aid. He was transported to a nearby hospital where he was pronounced dead.

According to the Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office, Landacre had engaged in a verbal altercation with James R. Rhymer following an apparent custody exchange of a young child.

Investigators say Rhymer produced a handgun during the altercation and shot Landacre in the upper chest area. Rhymer fled the area in a vehicle but was taken into custody a short time later.

Rhymer, 44, of Fairfield, Ohio, is charged with one count of Murder. He is currently being held in the Hamilton County Justice Center on $750,000 cash bond.

Investigators believe there were several witnesses who left the scene before they could be interviewed. Anyone with information about the incident is asked to contact the Hamilton County Criminal Investigation Section at (513) 851-6000.
