(Undated) - Ohio voters will get their first chance to hear from the candidates in the governor's race Wednesday night.
Republican Mike DeWine and Democrat Richard Cordray will face off at the University of Dayton starting at 7:00 p.m. It's the first of three scheduled debates between the major party candidates over the next month.
DeWine, who is Ohio’s Attorney General, and Cordray, a former state attorney general and first director of the federal Consumer Financial Protection Bureau, have been locked in a close race since the May primary. Most polls show the two in a dead-heat, meaning the three debates could loom large in luring swing voters.
Wednesday’s debate will be moderated by WHIO-TV’s James Brown.
The second gubernatorial debate will be held October 1 at Marietta College. A third meeting is slated for October 8 at Cleveland State University.
