NWS Confirms Tornado Touched Down Monday Near Brookville

(Brookville, Ind.) – The National Weather Service has confirmed that a tornado touched down Monday in Brookville.

The EF0 is believed to have first touched down in the vicinity of Palawana Circle and Deer Ridge Road around 6:32 p.m.

Some minor garden and tree branch damage was noted in this area. From there, the tornado continued east, affecting several homes between Garr Hill and Deer Ridge Roads.

Some of the damage reported included minor roof and siding damage and tree damage. At one residence, a back yard barn was completely destroyed, and a house garage had partial wall and roof collapse. It was at that point that the tornado reached maximum intensity with winds estimated around 85 MPH.

The tornado continued east, causing minor tree damage along Pea Ridge Road. After crossing State Road 101, more tree damage was done south of Pea Ridge Road before the tornado lifted along Liberty Pike.

The NWS says the tornado lasted seven minutes and traveled 2.8 miles with a maximum path width of 150 yards.

No injuries or fatalities were reported.
