A free weather spotter class will be held in Rising Sun on March 6.

A weather spotter class presented by the National Weather Service Wilmington, Ohio is coming to Rising Sun on March 6 at 7:00 p.m.. The class will be held at the Rising Sun Fire Department, 121 S. High Street.
The National Weather Service uses Doppler radar and satellite pictures as its primary tool to detect severe weather, but the most important tool for observing thunderstorms is the trained eye of the storm spotter.
As a trained spotter, you perform an invaluable service for the NWS. Your real-time observations of tornadoes, hail, wind and significant cloud formations provide a truly reliable information base for sever weather detections and verification.
The weather spotter class will be co-hosted by Dearborn County EMA Director Jason Sullivan, Ohio County EMA Director Laura Walston and Ripley County EMA's Rich Corkhum.
The class is open to the public and free to attend.
