UPDATE: Multiple Agencies Called to Structure Fire on Jackson Ridge Road

Eleven area fire departments responded to a fire on Jackson Ridge Road on Wednesday afternoon. 

Bright Fire and EMS were first to respond to the incident, encountering heavy fire within the home. 

Along with law enforcement, crews quickly verified that no occupants were inside the home, allowing operations to transition from search and rescue to a transitional attack. 

According to Bright Fire Department, the rapid spread of the fire and the building's construction presented significant challenges. Additionally, the lack of a nearby fire hydrant required firefighters to divide operations between water shuttling and fire attack, allowing crews to manage the fire from multiple sides.

Batesville Fire provided an engine crew to cover the Bright station while other resources were committed to this fire. 

"Establishing a water supply in areas without hydrants requires substantial manpower and equipment. Furthermore, fire departments nationwide continue to face staffing challenges and a shortage of volunteer firefighters, a issue that is especially acute during daytime hours when many volunteers are at work. Addressing these systemic challenges is vital as our community continues to grow. Until long-term solutions are in place, we remain grateful to all the dedicated first responders and agencies who step up to keep our community safe," reads a statement from Bright Fire.

(Bright, Ind.) - Multiple agencies are on the scene of an active structure fire. 

According to Dearborn County Dispatch, the fire broke out in the 21700 block of Jackson Ridge Road, just north of the Salt Fork Road intersection. 

Bright Fire Department is asking motorists to avoid the Jackson Ridge area as traffic may be restricted. 

"Please use an alternate route and give first responders plenty of room to work safely," reads a statement from Bright Fire.
