Middle School Student Found with Pocket Knife Facing Disciplinary Action

FCCSC Superintendent Dustin Gehring addressed the issue in a letter to parents and guardians.

(Brookville, Ind.) - Franklin County Community School Superintendent Dustin Gehring sent a letter to parents this week regarding a situation that occurred involving a middle school student that was reportedly in possession of a pocket knife. 

The student was allegedly found in possession of a pocket knife while on a transfer bus at Mt. Carmel Elementary School. 

Gehring says the situation was addressed immediately in accordance with district policies. 

The student involved is facing disciplinary action. 

"We understand that news of this nature can be concerning. I want to assure you that the safety and well-being of all students is our highest priority. We take incidents involving weapons—regardless of intent—very seriously and act quickly to maintain a safe environment for everyone," said Gehring.
