Lawrenceburg Students Donate Thousands Of Items To Afghan Evacuees

Team Rubicon was in town on Thursday to collect the items for evacuees at Camp Atterbury.

(Lawrenceburg, Ind.) – Lawrenceburg Community School students have gathered thousands of items to donate to Afghan evacuees temporarily housed in Indiana.

In late September, the Military Club, Hope Squad, and Student Council came up with the LCSC Humanitarian Outreach Campaign.

The campaign was in response to thousands of Afghan evacuees being transported to the states, including around 2,500 evacuees at Camp Atterbury in Indiana.

On Thursday, donated items were handed over to Team Rubicon, who is coordinating with the Department of Defense to meet the humanitarian needs of the Afghans families.

The donations included:

  • 341 packages of diapers
  • 149 packs of socks
  • 316 packages of baby wipes
  • 1097 toothbrushes & toothpaste
  • 284 deodorants
  • 355 shampoos
  • 353 hand sanitizers
  • 143 packages of lysol wipes
  • 83 soccer balls
  • 153 puzzles
  • 239 children's learning toys
  • 332 notebooks
  • 475 folders
  • 463 packs of crayons & colored markers
  • and 100s of miscellaneous items Team Rubicon was asking for to help the Afghanistan guests.
