Kroger Latest To Join List Of Major Retailers Selling CBD Products

Kroger announced it will begin selling CBD lotions, balms, oils, and creams this week.

(Cincinnati, Oh.) - Kroger stores will be the latest retailers in Indiana and Kentucky to sell CBD products.

The Cincinnati-based grocer will begin selling lotions, balms, oils, and creams at its stores in 17 states as soon as this week. Not included in Kroger's plans are selling CBD food, drinks, or supplements not yet permitted to be sold by the FDA.

CBD is derived from the hemp plant, but does not contain high enough concentrations of THC, the psychoactive compound in marijuana which allows people to get high. None of the products sold by Kroger will have any THC.

"CBD is a naturally occurring and nonintoxicating compound that has promising benefits and is permitted within federal and state regulations," Kroger said in a statement. "Our limited selection of hemp-derived CBD topical products is from suppliers that have been reviewed for quality and safety."

CVS Pharmacy and Walgreens have already began selling some CBD products in Indiana and Kentucky.
