Kentuckians 16 & Older Eligible For COVID-19 Vaccine On April 5

Gov. Beshear made the announcement on Wednesday.

(Frankfort, Ky.) – Kentucky is joining Indiana and Ohio in opening COVID-19 vaccination eligibility to those ages 16 and up.

Governor Andy Beshear announced yesterday that all Kentuckians 16 and older will be eligible to receive the vaccine starting Monday, April 5.

“This is a good day. This news means that we will beat the president’s goal by a month to have COVID-19 vaccinations opened up to everyone,” said Gov. Beshear. “We are seeing in a number of states an increase in cases and hospitalizations, and it’s happening among younger people. We want to get ahead of the more aggressive COVID-19 variants and make sure that we fill every available appointment. Make a plan to get your shot of hope.”

Only the Pfizer vaccine will be available for 16 and 17-year-olds as it is the only COVID-19 vaccine approved for that age group.

Locally, the Northern Kentucky Convention Center was listed among the four vaccination sites with the highest number of available appointments.

Registration can be found here.

To date, more than 1.3 million Kentuckians have been fully vaccinated.
