June Unemployment Rates Rise for SEI Counties

Ohio County continues to have the lowest jobless rate in the area.

INDIANAPOLIS – Unemployment rates are up in southeastern Indiana.

According to the Indiana Department of Workforce Development, all five southeastern Indiana counties in Eagle Country saw their jobless rates increase in June.

Dearborn, Ripley, and Switzerland counties saw the biggest jump, up 0.6 percent from the month prior.

Ohio County continues to have the lowest unemployment rate in the area at 2.2 percent, while Switzerland County had the highest jobless rate in the area at 3.2 percent.

Each of the unemployment rates for the five counties remains lower than the national rate of 3.6 percent.
