(Lawrenceburg, Ind.) – Ivy Tech Community College Lawrenceburg campus has appointed Julie Murphy as the director of the Batesville location. Murphy, currently serving as executive director of Human Resources at Ivy Tech Lawrenceburg, will continue to serve in this position, but will also focus on serving community partners as the Batesville site director. Murphy replaces Dr. Rebecca Rahschulte who was recently named the vice president of K-14 initiatives and statewide partnerships at the College.

“Julie Murphy has invaluable insight into the Batesville service area along with all the communities in Ripley and Franklin counties, and her strong relationships with community stakeholders will strengthen and support our hardworking students to finish their programs and find high-wage, high demand- careers with local employers,” Ivy Tech Lawrenceburg Chancellor Mark Graver said. “We welcome Julie as the Batesville Site Director and look forward to her efforts in further strengthening Ivy Tech’s vision and mission in southeastern Indiana.”

Murphy joined Ivy Tech in 2006 and has served as executive director of Human Resources for the Lawrenceburg and Madison campuses, as well as the Columbus campus, where she served on each campus cabinet. She was a member of the statewide Human Resources Council and currently serves on the strategic planning team. She has also served as an Ivy Tech adjunct faculty member. Prior to Ivy Tech, Julie worked as the Human Resources officer for Winton Savings & Loan where she was responsible for payroll, training and development, and marketing.

“I am humbled and honored to be selected as the Batesville Site Director,” said Murphy. “This is a great opportunity to expand my role with the College and to continue the great work that has been accomplished by my predecessors. There are many great programs offered at our Batesville Site and I look forward to continuing the forward progress of the location. We have an outstanding team of employees at Batesville and I am delighted to work more closely with them in sharing our common goal of helping students achieve their academic success.”

Murphy is a lifelong resident of southeastern Indiana and lives in Ripley County with her husband, Patrick, daughters Rachel and Delaney, and granddaughter Olivia. Murphy completed her Masters of Business Administration degree from Indiana Wesleyan University and her Bachelor’s of Science in Business Education/Organizational Systems Technology from Northern Kentucky University. She has earned her Certified Professional distinction from the Society for Human Resources Management (SHRM) in addition to her Professional in Human Resources certification from the HR Certification Institute.

Murphy is actively involved in her community serving on the Board of Directors for the Dearborn Community Foundation, former Executive Committee member of Dearborn Community Foundation, steering committee member for Moores Hill’s Bicentennial celebration, and committee member for Moores Hill’s Annual Winter Walk. She also has served on the steering committee for the Higher Education Collaborative of Greater Cincinnati’s Women’s Institute for Leadership Development (WILD). She volunteers at Carnegie Hall’s Annual Thanksgiving Dinner and is a former community correspondent for the Bright Beacon.
