(INDIANAPOLIS) – Indiana’s unemployment rate held steady in April.
The Indiana Department of Workforce Development says the state’s jobless rate was 3.9 percent in April, remaining under the national average of 6.1 percent.
Last April, the state’s unemployment rate increased to 16.9 percent as businesses were forced to shut down due to the pandemic.
The state has rebounded nicely from the pandemic dropping its jobless rate by 13 percent over the past 12 months.
Indiana’s labor force stands at 3.34 million and the state’s 63.1 percent labor force participation rate remains above the national rate of 61.7 percent.
Among neighboring state’s Ohio and Kentucky reported identical unemployment rates for April at 4.7 percent.
Employment data for Indiana counties will be released on Monday, May 24 at noon.
