Ind. Democrats Pick Their State Office Candidates

The Indiana Democratic Party held its state convention on June 16.

(Indianapolis, Ind.) – Indiana Democrats will challenge Republicans for each of the statewide elected offices to appear on the November 2018 ballot.

The Indiana Democratic Party filled its state ticket at their convention in Indianapolis on Saturday, June 16. Former U.S. Attorney General Eric Holder was the convention’s keynote speaker.

Delegates approved the nominations of Valparaiso attorney Jim Harper for Secretary of State, teacher and former Marion Common Council president Joselyn Whitticker for State Auditor, and former state representative John Aguilera for State Treasurer.

Chairman John Zody believed the candidates were well-positioned to win in November.

“Our candidates are focused on serving as a check and balance for Hoosier taxpayers and to hold politicians at the Statehouse accountable,” said Zody. “Hoosier Democrats are united behind Joe, Jim, Joselyn and John. As a Party, we’re fired up and ready to go to work for our statewide ticket.”

The Indiana GOP selected its statewide candidates at their convention held June 9 in Evansville. Connie Lawson is running for Secretary of State, Tera Klutz for State Auditor, and Kelly Mitchell for State Treasurer.
