(Versailles, Ind.) - For 116 years, the Versailles Pumpkin Show has been entertaining the masses in central Ripley County.

The big street festival put on by the Versailles Lions Club got underway on the courthouse square Thursday with the crowning of the 2018 Pumpkin Show King and Queen. The royalty honors went to Queen Mariah Day of Jac-Cen-Del High School and King Jared Tiemann of East Central High School.

Wednesday’s festivities also included the unveiling of new murals celebrating Versailles’ bicentennial. The murals depict local sights such as the county courthouse and a covered bridge, as well as Versailles native and Walgreen’s drug store chain co-founder James Tyson. They are on display at the Versailles Lions Club Building.

The 116th Versailles Pumpkin Show continues through Sunday, September 30. You can find a full schedule of events at www.versaillespumpkinshow.com.
