(Lawrenceburg, Ind.) - City officials put shovels to dirt on Wednesday signifying the official start of the Short Street Pavilion project.

The Lawrenceburg Civic Park expansion has been in the works since October of 2022 when the City purchased the property at Short and Williams streets for $550,000.

Mayor Kelly Mollaun tells Eagle Country 99.3 that the project timeline calls for completion of the pavilion in the October or November range. His hope is that the Winter Wonderland Ice Rink will be housed at the pavilion for the 2025 Christmas holiday season.

"I'm just glad council pulled the trigger on this one and brought it to fruition, it's going to by dynamite," said Mollaun.

Aside from hosting the ice skating rink and the Farmers Market, the pavilion will be used for other events, and will include brick and mortar restrooms.

Right next door, an Italian Steakhouse is in the works. Mayor Mollaun says the anticipated completion date is December.

"I think it's going to be a game changer type restaurant in downtown," said Mollaun.
