Groundbreaking Set For New Southwest Local Schools

Three new elementary schools and one new middle school are expected to open in August 2021.

(Harrison, Oh.) – Southwest Local School District is ready to break ground on new schools.

The school district will break ground on three new elementary schools and one new middle school on Friday, August 23.

Groundbreaking ceremonies for the schools be held at three separate locations. The first will begin at 10:00 a.m. at Crosby Elementary. The central campus ceremony will be held north of the football stadium at 12:30 p.m. Harrison Elementary will hold their celebration at 2:00.

Voters in the school district approved a bond issue and tax levy in November of 2017, allowing the school district to move forward with the building of new schools.

Each school will help with growing enrollment in the school district, along with providing a modern learning environment for students in grades pre-K through 8.

SLSD administrators say the new schools are expected to open for classes in August 2021.
