Gallatin Co. Coroner Continues To Try To Identify Man Found In Ohio River

The man was found February of last year.

(Gallatin Co., Ky.) - Over a year after a body was found in the Ohio River, the Gallatin County Coroner Ken Lafferty continues to try to identify the man found.

On February 22, 2019, the Gallatin County Sheriff’s Department pulled a man from the river, but due to little details was unable to find his identity.

The man appeared to be between 60-70 years of age, 5’10”-5’11” tall, 250-275 lbs., gray and black beard, and partially bald. A white sock and navy-blue slip-on shoe was the only clothing found on his body.

FOX19-NOW reports that without any luck of finding out who this man is, the community decided to give the unidentified man a burial next to Paint Lick Baptist Church in Warsaw, Ky.

"Unknown White Male. Found at Markland Dam, February 22, 2019," reads the grave marker.

Lafferty decided to contact the National Missing and Unidentified persons system to get a DNA profile made for the man. With the DNA submitted, Lafferty hopes that this man's identity can finally be known.

If you have any information or might know who this man is, please call the Gallatin County Coroner's office at (859) 655-5741.
