Franklin, Ripley Counties Join Dearborn County In Red Level Status

All three counties have a 7-day all tests positivity rate over 15 percent.

(Lawrenceburg, Ind.) – Two southeastern Indiana counties have joined Dearborn County in the red status for COVID-19 spread.

According to the Indiana State Department of Health, Franklin and Ripley counties are now red on the county metrics map that gets updated every Wednesday.

Ripley County has seen its 7-day all tests positivity rate increase to 18.4 percent, and their weekly cases per 100,000 residents exceed 1,000.

In Franklin County, the 7-day all tests positivity rate stands at 16.3 percent.

Dearborn County remains in the red with a 7-day positivity rate of 18.1 percent.

Currently, there are 36 Indiana counties that are at red level. The other 56 counties are orange.

Restrictions for red counties include:

  • Social gatherings of any kind, inside or outside, are limited to 25 people.
  • Special, seasonal or commercial events planned for more than 25 people require approval of a safety plan by the local health department. Events are not advised to be held. College and pro sports are included.
  • Attendance at winter indoor K-12 extracurricular and co-curricular activities including IHSAA sports, is limited to participants, support personnel and parents/guardians.
  • Local officials may consider limiting hours for the operation of bars, nightclubs, and restaurants.
  • Community recreational sports leagues and tournaments may continue with participants, required personnel and parents/guardians only.
  • Senior care activities suspended.
  • Hospitals, long-term care facilities and other congregate setting may impose visitation limits.
  • Common areas and break rooms should be closed.

To date, Indiana has reported 398,417 positive cases and 6.207 COVID-19 related deaths.
