Driver Killed After Stopping In Left Lane Of I-75

The crash happened early Wednesday morning on Interstate 75 in Walton.

(Walton, Ky.) - A driver was killed in a crash on Interstate 75 in Boone County Wednesday.

David Marshall, 62, of Louisville, was killed when an Chevrolet Traverse struck his Honda Civic, which had stalled out in the left lane of the northbound highway in Walton just before 1:30 a.m. Wednesday. Deputies investigating the crash say Marshall’s car had no lights on at the time of the wreck.

Marshall was pronounced dead at the scene.

Operating the Chevrolet SUV was Andrew Routson, 21, of Beavercreek, Ohio. The SUV struck a concrete call following the initial impact.

A 13-year-old passenger in the SUV was hospitalized with a minor back injury at St. Elizabeth Hospital in Florence.

No charges have been filed, but the Boone County Sheriff’s Office Accident Reconstruction Unit is continuing to investigate. They are working to determine why Marshall’s vehicle had stopped on the highway.

Deputies say speed was not a factor in the deadly wreck.
