(Delaware, Ind.) – The Delaware Community Volunteer Fire Department is gearing up for its annual Fish Fry.

The event will take place today from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. with all proceeds going to the Carson Hughes Memorial Fund.

With attendance expected to be higher than normal, the department is asking the public to be patient.

“Our goal is to get as many meals out as quickly as we can,” reads a Facebook post from Delaware Community Volunteer Fire Department.

To help expedite the process, those with to-go orders will enter directly into the tent pictured above, while dine-in orders will go inside.

Typically, the Delaware Community Volunteer Fire Department holds their annual fish fry to maintain equipment and keep up with various projects at the fire house.

Thanks to recent donations and support from the local community, the fire department decided to pay that support forward in remembrance of Carson Hughes, who tragically lost his life last week.

The Delaware Fire Fish Fry is $15 per meal and includes fish or chicken strips served with mac n’ cheese, fries, cole slaw, dessert and a drink.
