(Lawrenceburg, Ind.) - Livestock, rides and family fun is returning to Lawrenceburg Fairgrounds this week. The Dearborn County 4-H and Community Fair runs Monday, June 17 through Saturday, June 22. Local kids participating in 4-H will get to show off their homemaking, food-growing, and animal rising projects that they have been working on over the past year.

Member of the 4-H board Jan Uhlamansiek knows all about the about the 4-H community as she has part of the organization's board for 20 years.

In 1955, Jan was the first girl who took livestock to the fair saying, “It was strange for a girl to be part of the livestock portion. Now the amount of girls is three fourths of the boys.”

These long-standing traditions of 4-H are just one of the many reasons as to why you should bring your family out to the fair.

Monday started off the 4-H festivities with the 4-H Royalty contest and poultry show.

The winners of Prince and Princess were Julia Bulach and Eli Bruce. Winners of the King and Queen contest were Bailee Batch and Troy Shumate.

The midway and rides will be open from 5-10:00 p.m. Monday through Thursday and from 4-10:00 p.m. Friday and Saturday.

There will also be face painting, the wild world of animals shows, live music, and daily door prizes.

You can find a complete list of event dates and times, as well as plenty more fair information, at www.dearborncountyfair.com. Admission for the fair is $10 per person and includes all rides, musical entertainment, educational shows and much more!
