(Dearborn County, Ind.) - Dearborn County is now level "yellow" for COVID-19 spread.
The announcement was made Wednesday by Dearborn County Health Officer Dr. Stephen Eliason
Eliason says being in the yellow indicates a moderate level of community spread.
According to the Indiana State Department of Health, Dearborn County's seven-day positivity rate is up to 12.75 percent, up from 3.13 percent just days ago. The weekly positive cases per 100,000 residents stands at 97.
Eliason indicated earlier this week on Eagle Country 99.3 that the county health department expected a spike in positive cases, likely due to Labor Day weekend activity.
"Please take precautions and observe social distancing, hand hygiene and masks," said Eliason. "Considering staying home from activities where social distancing is not feasible. For parents and guardians, please consider restricting social activities outside of school. Be careful about protecting the elderly and vulnerable individuals."
