(Lawrenceburg, Ind.) - The City of Lawrenceburg has agreed to partner with Fairhaven Apartments Inc., on a major renovation and improvement project for their Fairhaven West campus. Fairhaven East and West are two of the largest senior living properties in Lawrenceburg and this project will greatly improve the quality of life for the many seniors and individuals with disabilities who reside there. Fairhaven West will be renovated first followed by improvements for the newer Fairhaven East. Construction is slated to begin immediately with project completion in late Spring of 2022.

"I'm glad to see the apartments being renovated, it is much overdue," said Lawrenceburg City Councilman Tony Abbott. Abbott and the rest of City Council voted unanimously to support the project.

The total project cost of approximately $1.5 Million will be funded mostly by housing grants thru the IHCDA and FHLBI, with the City contributing up to $250,000 for cost runovers and additional items that would have been cut from the project otherwise. Site work includes upgrades for handicapped accessibility, improved energy and water efficiencies, along with exterior and interior facility improvements for increased residential safety, comfort, and apartment rentability. Residents will be provided with relocation and their moving expenses will be paid to accommodate them during the renovation.

“It is with deep gratitude that we thank the City Council and Mayor Mollaun for partnering on the Fairhaven West Renovation Project. Because without this partnership, our renovation was at risk of not moving forward. Now, the tenants at Fairhaven West will enjoy newly renovated apartments with a new open layout, new flooring, lighting, cabinetry, appliances, HVAC units and patios with new sliding doors. The common areas will be brought back to life. The Community Room and Kitchen will be fully updated, and all common areas will receive a fresh coat of paint, new lighting and flooring,” as well as, “a new handicapped accessible restroom. Thanks to the City of Lawrenceburg, IHCDA, FHLBI and FCN Bank, Fairhaven Apartments, Inc., will be able to provide safe, decent and affordable housing for seniors and individuals with disabilities for years into the future.” Angie Richards, owner of Harmony House LLC & Grant Administrator.

Fairhaven West was built in 1974 as a senior low-income facility with rental assistance. It is managed by a non-profit organization and is a key part of the local housing and senior support system for Lawrenceburg and Dearborn County.
