“Our officers and canine teams are part of the best frontline defense in the world. They are exceptional at what they do.”

(Cincinnati, Oh.) - Cincinnati Customs and Border Protection (CBP) officers seized 21 pounds of cocaine in women's boots late last week.

On Friday, July 17, officers were conducting routine search operations on a shipment coming from Bogota, Columbia when Narcotics Detector Dog "Betty" alerted to the shipment marked as "shoes."

While sending the large package of ladies boots through x-ray, officers noticed unusually thick arch supports with in the shoes. Multiple rectangular black packages in hidden compartments cut into the soles beneath the arches were found. The packages containing a white powder tested positive for cocaine.

The shipment had a total street value of just under half a million dollars, and was addressed to a private individual at a residence in Haverstraw, New York.

CBP Cincinnati Port Director Richard Gillespie expressed his appreciation for his officers and their hard-working canine companions. “Our officers and canine teams are part of the best frontline defense in the world. They are exceptional at what they do.”
