A special dedication ceremony will take place on Friday.
(Boone County, Ky.) – A portion of Kentucky Route 338 in Boone County will be dedicated to a Vietnam War hero.
Under Senate Joint Resolution 136, the Transportation Cabinet shall designate KY 338 from mile marker 10.643 to mile marker 11.974 as the “Gary Leslie Moore Memorial Highway.”
Moore, an Army Specialist, began his tour of duty on September 7, 1968 in the 17th Cavalry Division in Vietnam.
Unfortunately, he paid the ultimate price while defending his country in the Quang Ngai province of South Vietnam on March 12, 1969.
Moore was posthumously awarded a Purple Heart and a Bronze Star for his sacrifice and service to his country.
Before being drafted into the Army, Moore was a Class of 1965 graduate of Boone County High School.
The Boone County community is invited to a dedication ceremony on Friday, August 14 at 10:00 a.m. in the Ferguson Room of the Boone County Courthouse in Burlington.
