Boone Co. Fiscal Court Mulls Tax Credits For DHL

(Burlington, Ky.) - Boone County is still considering incentives being sought by DHL Express.

The shipping giant announced plans last week to invest $47 million in a new 193,000 square foot sorting facility at the Cincinnati-Northern Kentucky International Airport. The expansion would make room for nearyl 300 new jobs.

The Kentucky Enquirer reports the Boone County Fiscal Court had a first reading of an ordinance to provide tax credits for DHL Tuesday. The ordinance would bring a total tax credit of 2.85 percent under the Kentucky Business Investment program.

A second reading of the ordinance is set for February 21.

State leaders have also given preliminary approval of $1.5 million in tax incentives for DHL’s expansion.
