Bank Robber Reaches Plea Deal

(Lawrenceburg, Ind.) - A Lawrenceburg bank robber is going to make a plea which has the potential to put him in prison for four decades.

 

Thomas Carr, 26, of Columbus, Ohio, is accused of using a handgun to hold up the U.S. Bank on U.S. 50 last May 15. Just a five nights earlier, Carr allegedly held up a nearby Speedway gas station.

 

Following the bank robbery, Carr was arrested after a vehicle pursuit on U.S. 50 as he left the bank robbery in a stolen vehicle.  He ditched the car at Hollywood Casino and fled on foot into the Oxbow preserve where he was caught.

 

Carr was slapped with a laundry list of charges: Robbery with a Deadly Weapon, Theft, Criminal Confinement with a Deadly Weapon, Possession of a Firearm by a Serious Violent Felon, Resisting Law Enforcement, and Resisting Law Enforcement (Fleeing With Vehicle).

 

Court documents show Carr has reached a plea agreement. He will plea guilty to Robbery with a Deadly Weapon and Possession of a Firearm by a Serious Violent Felon, both Class B felonies punishable by up to 20 years in prison.

 

Carr’s sentencing is scheduled for Wednesday, January 18 in Dearborn Circuit Court.
