UPDATE: Aurora Utilities Lifts Boil Advisory

UPDATE: Aurora Utilities has canceled the water boiling advisory following detection of E. coli in a back-up well.

Update published Thursday, July 4:

Aurora Utilities has lifted the boil advisory for its water customers. 

Utility superintendent Randy Turner said Environmental Labs reported that all five well samples and four distribution samples passed as clean as of 5:30 p.m. Wednesday.

"This includes the back up well that showed bacteria. It will still be kept off pending directions from IDEM," said Turner. "This will be relayed to IDEM, for their review."

(Aurora, Ind.) - A water boiling advisory is in effect for customers of Aurora Utilities.

Aurora Utilities superintendent Randy Turner says on Thursday, June 27 a sample from a back-up well tested positive for E. coli bacteria.

The utility is now investigating a cause of the E. coli. The affected well has been disconnected from the utility’s water supply while it is cleaned and flushed.

Aurora Utilities and Hogan Water is urging customers with compromised immune systems, the elderly, and infants to not drink the water without boiling it first.

PUBLIC NOTIFICATION FOR AURORA UTILITY WATER USERS

On June 27th, 2019 a raw water source sample from a back up well tested positive for e-coli bacteria, and we are now investigating the cause of this contamination. A more detailed report of this can be seen at Aurora.In.Us

For safety of  those with a compromised immune system, infants or elderly, DO NOT DRINK THE WATER WITHOUT BOILING IT FIRST!

THE WELL THAT TESTED POSITIVE FOR E-COLI HAS BEEN DISCONNECTED FROM SERVICE AND IS BEING CLEANED AND FLUSHED.

Extra bacti samples will be taken in the distribution system as a safe guard. Extra chlorine tests will also be completed to assure safety.

Notice of any failed distribution samples will be announced immediately.
