(Aurora, Ind.) - The Aurora Garden Club is giving back to the community in recognition of Arbor Day.
Arbor Day is Friday, April 30. The annual tradition encourages individuals and groups across the country to plant trees.
The Aurora Garden Club will be helping the cause by giving away 200 free Eastern White Pine trees on Saturday, April 10 beginning at 10:00 a.m. at the intersection of George and Johnson streets.
The white pine trees were selected to give away as they are resistant to cicadas that will emerge later this spring.
Trees will be given away on a first-come, first-serve basis.
Only those who plan to plant a tree should take one.
Aside from the tree giveaway, the Aurora Garden Club is seeking new members. Prospective members do not have to live in Aurora to join.
